As the late great Dennis Green once said, “they are who we thought they were”. It was almost identical to game 6 how this one ended up playing out. Rockets came out like gang busters hitting on all cylinders, even possessing as much as a 15 point lead in the second quarter. Keep in mind this was with Chris Paul sidelined once again nursing a hamstring. The Warriors seemed to have no answer for Capela on the pick and roll in the first half and seemly the whole game. Just like in game 6 however, the Warriors would come out of the locker room in the second half and remember how to shoot.
Curry (finishing with 27) went nuts in the third quarter hitting three straight from down town in a stretch that pretty much put the Rockets on ice. Harden was also ice cold tonight shooting 2-13 from three point land. There’s really not much you can say besides that when Chris Paul went out, this series was over. I feel sorry for Houston really. They went out and got Paul this offseason because they were one guy away from competing and potential beating the Warriors. Turns out they needed that one guy to win one more game in this series. I also hate it for Chris Paul, who much just be snake bit on reaching the finals.
You know what’s crazy? I’m so old I remember when the Cavs/Warriors didn’t go to the finals every year.
Stay tuned for my finals preview……
