The New York Yankees won the series over the Tampa Bay Rays 3 games to 1.
In game one of the series, Domingo German earned his first win of the season, tossing a pretty nice game going 6 innings, allowing 3 earned, punching out 10, and only walking 2. Chad Green, Betances and Chapman would finish the game all throwing an inning without giving up any runs. Aaron Hicks homered right in the bottom of the fifth when the Yanks were trailing 2-0, and then Gleyber Torres hit a 3 run jack to left to put the Stripes up 4-2. The Yankees would go on to win 4-3. 44-20.
The second game of the 4 game series saw Jonathan Loaisiga make his MLB debut, throwing 5 innings, 0 ER, 6 K’s. The Yanks might have something special if 24 year old German can continue to pitch well, and if 23 year old Loaisiga is can follow up his impressive start. A good sight to see in this matchup was Gary Sanchez get a base clearing double. The Yankees catcher has struggled lately and seeing him snag a knock with a few ribbies is uplifting. Gregorious added to his homerun total, and Stanton snagged another RBI. 45-20.
Luis Severino did Luis Severino things Saturday afternoon. 8 innings, 0 ER, 9 K’s. This dude is unreal right now. Sevy is one of 3 pitchers in the league to snag 10 wins this season. Sanchez grabbed another hit this game this time leaving the yard, immediately after Stanton did. Yanks rolled 4-1. 46-20.
The Yanks headed into game four looking for a sweep of the AL East Foe, but came up short. CC Sabathia took the bump and didn’t pitch bad, just didn’t get any run support. He threw 7 2/3 innings, 3 Earned, and struck out 10. The Rays would use 5 pitchers in route to the victory. Aaron Hicks was the only one to strike gold this game, hitting his 8th long ball of the season. Yanks lose 3-1. 46-21.
