School in England Refused to Move “Shrek-The Musical” for England Game

“Mirr.Co.Uk-¬†Excitement is building and England fans across the country are counting down the minutes until Gareth Southgate’s England squad take to the pitch for the World Cup semi-final.
It’s the first time the Three Lions have reached this stage in the competition since 1990, and people are starting to believe it really is finally coming home.
While most big events have been rearranged or rescheduled so they don’t clash with the big match, one primary school is refusing to move their play, reports Bristol Live .
This means children and their parents will miss England go head-to-head with Croatia – and will instead be transported to Fairytale Land for their production of Shrek the Musical.
Year 5 and 6 children at Pucklechurch Primary School in Bristol will take to the stage bang on 7pm for their production.
About 50 children have spent the past month getting ready for the production ahead of two performances – one last night and one this evening.
Parents are outraged that headteacher David Forrester has refused to move the start time.
One parent, who asked not to be name for fear of the fall-out, said parents were flabbergasted when they arrived at school on Monday, expecting the show to be rescheduled.
She said: “Everyone assumed after England won on Saturday that the headteacher would postpone Wednesday’s show. Or at least, arrange it to be on earlier on Wednesday, or move it to Thursday.
“There’s so many ways round it – the whole nation is coming to a standstill for this, other major sporting events are being changed, but not Shrek the Musical at little Pucklechurch Primary School, it’s absolutely crazy.”
Parents were further angered when David told pupils if they intended to pull out of Wednesday’s production to watch the football, they would be replaced for Tuesday’s show, too.
One said: “He threatened all the children that if they ‘don’t come tomorrow night they will be letting the whole school down'”

I am absolutely 100% with the parents and the kids in this situation. Today’s England game starts at 7 pm their time, and it’s absolute bullshit that these kids and parents are being cheated out of watching it. Their entire country has stopped to watch this game, but this asshole David Forrester decides to torture these poor kids and families.

If you’re dead set on having the show tonight, then you should’ve just reschedule it for 5 pm. Everyone gets to see the play, and then guess what? You can have your own watch party or some shit on a projector there at the school. But that would just make way too much sense, wouldn’t it David Forrester?

And does it really hurt to move the musical back to Thursday? It would definitely benefit attendance, since one of the country’s biggest games of all-time is going on today and not tomorrow.

It’s just a damn shame that all of this is happening. Shrek is one of the greatest masterpieces in our time, and there’s no reason why the folks over there in England can’t enjoy both on the same day. Just quit being so difficult, Forrester, and move the play/musical up to 5 pm.
