Isaiah Thomas Signs with the Nuggets, Nuggets Clear Some Cap Space (Not for I.T., Probably for Kawhi)

It’s crazy how one off-season everyone’s talking about how you might get a max contract, but then you end up having to sign for the shitty veterans minimum.

I’m almost positive that Isaiah Thomas read my post from the other day about NBA Free Agents. IT signed a 1-year, $2.4M deal with the Nuggets who are probably playoff bound. The Nuggets ended up finishing 9th in the West after losing what was basically a play-in game in Minnesota.

Thomas will probably be coming off the bench as the 6th man since Denver will probably have Jamal Murray and Gary Harris in the starting line-up.

Denver has had a pretty great off-season. They basically stole Michael Porter Jr, they signed Jokic to a long-term deal, and now got Isaiah Thomas for next to nothing.

Last night, the Nuggets also traded Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur to Brooklyn. Denver also sent a protected first round pick.

So, the Denver Nuggets freed up $21M? Hm. Oh, what’d you say? Go look at Kawhi Leonard’s salary for this upcoming season? And his player option for next year? Sure, I’ll check it out.
img_3600Well, there it is. Kawhi is being traded to Denver, and they were just freeing up the cap space they needed to free up so they could get him. Please credit Loudmouth Sports whenever the trade is announced. Thanks, and God Bless.
