Sources: #Cubs moving toward a Cole Hamels deal that would be centered around lower-level minor-league prospects and salary relief for #Rangers. Something to monitor: Class-A Myrtle Beach right-hander Rollie Lacy was scratched from tonight’s start.

Hamels has struggled lately, and he’s posted a 10.23 ERA over his last five starts. Everyone knows that he’s a talented pitcher, though, and those were just a couple of starts that he got hit hard in.
The Cubs are also not giving up too much to receive Hamels here, since they’re just a couple of lower league minor league guys. Makes too much sense to not do this deal if you’re Chicago. If Hamels can get back on track, then the Cubs can become that much stronger as they try to fend off Milwaukee for the NL Central title.
