So we finally got some football to watch last night and I must say it was great… for at least 5 minutes until I realized I was watching Chase Daniel vs RGIII. The Hall of Fame game not only gave us a chance to hear Al and Chris babble about a bunch of 4th stringers, but also brought to the forfront the new helmet rule.
I’ll be honest, I knew the NFL was adding a new rule regarding hits but had no idea it was going to be this bad. I understand that the league is trying to cut back on head injuries and concussions but give me a break!

This was called a penalty. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for making the game safer and I’m not one of these guys who is like “the game sucks now and let’s just give them pads” blah blah blah. I hope the refs can figure out how to call this during the preseason or there will be flags on about every play. You just can’t eliminate the head from the game of football, and the sooner the league figures that out the better. There is only so much you can do without just getting rid of tackle football.
