Carolina Panthers Week One Review

Well the Carolina Panthers exceeded defensive expectations in week one, but the offense still has work to do.

The Panthers beat “America’s Team” 16-8 at home, and the defense set the tone early. The Carolina defense had a combined 6 sacks in the outing, the final being a strip sack by Mario Addison. Luke Kuechly added 13 tackles in the game, and Kawann Short had 2 sacks.

Who impressed me: Donte Jackson. Jackson, the 2nd round draft pick of this past year looked like he was playing in his 4th or 5th season, with a few ticky-tack pass interference calls.

I would love to see McCaffrey get more involved, even though when his number got called he answered. C.J. Anderson did his job as well when called upon. He looks like a mix of ex-Panthers Mike Tolbert, and Jonathan Stewart to me.

Greg Olsen is out with a re-fractured foot. Chris Manhertz and Ian Thomas will look to pick up where he left off, but will definitely not fill that void by the only Tight End in NFL history to record 3 straight 1,000 yard receiving seasons.
