Josh Gordon was told by John Dorsey that he would be getting released on Monday. Gordon suffered a hamstring injury off the field during a photo shoot. Yes, during a photo shoot.
Gordon has a history of not playing in the NFL. The 27 year old missed first 10 games of the 2014 season for substance abuse, and missed the 2015 and 2016 seasons, played 5 games in 2017, and played last week against Pittsburgh.
His rookie year looked promising in 2012, hauling in 5 catches for 805 yards. He followed that season up with a monster 2013. 87 catches, a league leading 1,646 yards, and 9 touchdowns.
Gordon said he is interested in joining the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Francisco 49ers. He would be a good fit for both teams, as neither has that IT factor of a deep threat. Other teams that need help at the receiver position are my beloved Carolina Panthers, the Buffalo Bills, and I wouldn’t be shocked if the Patriots glanced at the speedster.
With the exit of Gordon, the Browns could look back into signing Dez Bryant, who visited Cleveland in the preseason, but the hype has since died down.
